Get Smooth Skin And Hair With Yogurt

It is not only a delicious dessert, an ingredient in many recipes or a perfect snack for when your appetite attacks in the afternoon. Yogurt is an element that can be used for external beauty. Learn in this article how to have soft skin and hair with recipes for yogurt.

Why the yogurt?

It is a wonderful food for our health. It provides us with vitamins, proteins and many more nutrients. It also helps regulate digestion thanks to its probiotics (beneficial microorganisms).

But not only can we use yogurt as food or as a food supplement, it also helps us maintain our external beauty. Since ancient times, this food and milk have been used for natural skin and hair care due to their lactic acid content.

Rice-water-on-the-skin

Can I use any type of yogurt? This is one of the most frequently asked questions after reading the recipes or advice related to this ingredient. The answer is no, not just any will work for the skin. Some flavors can cause irritation to the dermis (especially the most sensitive ones).

It is advisable to choose those that have no sugar or are neutral. Make sure it is a live culture yogurt, that is, it has not been pasteurized (raised to a high temperature to kill all viruses and bacteria, but also beneficial microorganisms).

How can this ingredient be used for the skin?

Scrub

Natural yogurt is a very good exfoliator for our dermis because it can help keep it clean of impurities and dead cells. It can be used even on dry or sensitive skin. To make a yogurt scrub you need:

  • 1 teaspoon of rice flour (5 g)
  • 2 tablespoons of yogurt (30 g)

Mix well and spread with your fingertips all over your face, in a circular fashion. Rinse with lukewarm water and then apply a moisturizer.

    Exfoliate yogurt skin

Yogurt also has the ability to make our skin look more luminous. Wash the skin with warm water and mild soap and then apply yogurt with a cotton ball, as if it were a cream. Do not rinse it off, let it absorb directly into the skin. You can apply by tapping with a cotton ball or with your fingers. If you want to remove it, wait at least 10 minutes for it to take effect.

    Acne

Another of the properties of yogurt for the skin is that it can be used to combat pimples, blackheads, bars, etc. If you frequently apply a mask made with yogurt, you can reduce breakouts, due to its zinc content and acidic pH. You can apply directly to the skin after bathing and leave it to act for 20 minutes before removing with warm water (three times a week).

A second option is to mix:

    • Two tablespoons of yogurt (30 g)
    • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder (5 g)

Apply on the skin using a cotton ball very gently, being careful not to get into the eyes. Let it act for 15 minutes and remove with warm water.

    Clear out

    Delicate skin

In addition to the properties that we have already mentioned before, yogurt has the ability to lighten the skin tone. If, for example, you have been exposed to too much sun or if your skin has darkened over the years, combine:

    • 1 tablespoon of chickpea flour (10 g)
    • The juice of a lemon
    • Required amount of yogurt

It is important that the mixture remains like a paste and that you apply it to the area you want to lighten. Let it act for 15 minutes and then remove with warm water. Repeat this treatment every night before sleeping.

How can yogurt be used for hair?

We have not forgotten the properties that this delicious dairy has for our scalp and hair. You have already read what are the components of yogurt, but perhaps you do not know how it benefits the hair.

    Conditioner

    Hair-mask

Before bathing, apply half a cup of yogurt to your hair, from roots to ends. Cover with a plastic cap and leave for 20 minutes. Then shower as usual. You can also put a little in the usual conditioner.

    Another recipe includes:

    • 2 tablespoons of yogurt (30 g)
    • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil (15 g)
    • 1 tablespoon of aloe vera (15 g)

Use this preparation in the same way as explained before.

    Dandruff

    Bicarbonate-hair

Last but not least, yogurt has dandruff-reducing properties, as well as antibacterial and antifungal properties. Prevents harmful microorganisms from proliferating on the scalp.

Apply a little yogurt to the scalp and massage using your fingertips (never your nails, to avoid irritation). Then wash with shampoo and conditioner as usual. Repeat every two days until the dandruff is gone.
