Sea Salt And Bicarbonate For Sinusitis

To obtain relief in case of sinusitis you can resort to certain measures. One of them is nasal washes. Now, can such washes be done with mixtures of sea salt and baking soda? Let’s see it next.

Nasal washes seek to relieve congestion and, therefore, the discomfort that results from it. To perform them correctly, it is necessary to take into account certain measures and, above all, not to rely on any type of natural mixture or product.

If the doctor does not direct a solution directly to perform the nasal washes, it is advisable to consult with the pharmacist. Most likely, it will offer us several alternatives in which certain ingredients are present, such as sea salt.

What is sinusitis?

Sinusitis is a more common condition than we usually think. Although many specialists often recommend a surgical operation to alleviate your discomfort, there are many remedies that can help relieve the pain that it produces.

This condition, also known as rhinosinusitis, affects breathing and causes pain and discomfort in the facial area. Sinusitis occurs when the lining of the nose becomes inflamed. Thus, it affects small cavities that connect our nose with the outside and are known as paranasal sinuses.

In addition to the symptoms already mentioned, sinusitis can also cause bad breath, fatigue, cough, fever or a general pain throughout the body. Therefore, it is extremely important to go to the doctor and follow his instructions. Otherwise, the problem could get worse and cause more problems.

Sea salt and baking soda for sinus relief?

Rather than using homemade mixtures of sea salt and baking soda (for example), it is recommended to use solutions with salt water to keep the nostrils clear. By helping to wash away thick and dry mucus, it is easier to expel and therefore decongest.

At the same time, solutions with salt water help to restore moisture to the mucous membranes, thereby increasing the feeling of relief.

Baking soda is an ingredient that is used both in cooking and in other areas. Within the cosmetic area it is used as a deodorant and also as a bleach. In the medicinal field it is used as an antacid to relieve heartburn and as a urinary alkalinizer. It can also be mixed with salt water to make a homemade solution for nasal washes.
