Tomato Treatment For Oily And Acne Skin

Tomato treatment for oily and acne skin is a natural preparation that appears to help keep skin smooth and free of impurities. Although all skin problems should be addressed by a dermatologist, these types of products can be useful as a complement to treatment.

Both oily skin and acne can appear due to hormonal runaways, certain medications, stress, and many other factors. Therefore, as a publication in the Canadian Medical Association Journal highlights , choosing an effective therapy can be confusing.

Thus, today we have many topical products and systemic therapy that can promote a better appearance of the skin. However, these should be prescribed by the professional, taking into account the cause of acne and the type of skin. So, is it useful to use a tomato treatment?

Tomato skin treatment: what are its benefits?

The application of tomato as a skin treatment comes mainly from popular culture. Although some studies have been done to know the effects of tomato on the skin, the evidence is limited. In fact, there is no research to show that it is effective for problems like acne.

However, due to its high content of water and antioxidants, it seems to be a good option to regulate excess oil production and prevent clogging of pores. In this way, we reduce the appearance of pimples, blackheads and pimples.

Also, as detailed by research published in Scientific Reports , its lycopene content could be beneficial in mitigating the effects of oxidative stress and UV rays. Therefore, the constant use of a tomato treatment could also help reduce the risk of premature aging.

Tomato treatment to clean pores

Enlarged pores can have multiple causes. Although they cannot be “sealed” as such, their appearance can be diminished with proper cleaning. In this case, in addition to the regular products, we suggest using a tomato mask.

Tomato treatment to clean pores

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon of tomato pulp (16 g)
  • 2 teaspoons of honey (10 g)
  • 1 cotton pad

Instructions

  • We will mix the ingredients in a small container. Then, we will only have to soak the cotton pad and apply it to the face using circular movements.
  • We let it act for 15 minutes and, afterwards, we rinse with fresh water. We can carry it out every morning.

Acne treatment

Acne is a disease with multiple causes. Therefore, to find an effective treatment, a dermatological consultation becomes essential. Of course, to complement the conventional treatment, some traditional natural remedies can be tried. As we have already mentioned, the tomato, due to its properties, seems to be a good option.

Ingredients

  • A tomato cut in half

Instructions

  • We rub the tomato all over the face or affected areas. We let it act for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • We rinse with cold water.

Note: we must use sunscreen after using this type of treatment.

Excessive fat production can be due to hormonal disorders, genetics, or environmental factors. Although the application of a tomato mask does not help to cure this condition, it can be a good adjuvant to give a fresher appearance to the skin, at least temporarily.

    Ingredients

    • 1 tablespoon of tomato pulp (16 g)
    • 10 cucumber slices (50 g)

    Preparation

    • What we are going to do, first, is to remove the outer skin of the tomato. Next, we also peel the cucumber and take those ten slices to the blender along with the tomato.
    • Next, we leave this combination in a small bowl and, with the help of a cotton ball, we moisten our face with small touches so that it is well impregnated.
    • We let it act for 20 minutes and then we rinse with cold water.
    • We can use it 3 times a week.

Suspend if there is an unfavorable reaction

The topical application of tomato on the skin still lacks solid evidence. Therefore, like any other product, it is advisable to use it with caution. In this sense, before applying it in its entirety, it is advisable to do a small test in one of the areas of the skin.

If there is any unfavorable reaction, it is best to discontinue use. In any case, for most people it is a safe ingredient, which can be used on a regular basis.
